The Renfrew and Area Chamber of Commerce Awards saw local figures honoured for their contributions to the community.
President Carol-Ann Adams co-hosted the Thursday evening event. She tells myFM that they received many wonderful nominations this year and gave an early look at next year’s criteria.
Among the winners this year are Nancy and Ron Dunbar, who took home Citizens of the Year.
It was an emotional evening for them, as they picked up the award for their efforts with Buy and Sell- Proceeds for Renfrew Hospice. They say their efforts have raised over $250,000 for local end-of-life care since 2010.
96.1 myFM also celebrated at the Chamber Awards ceremony, winning the Downtown Renfrew BIA Award on Thursday for being a contributing member to the group.
General Manager Bob Dillabough says that, even as businesses come and go, the BIA keeps our downtown strong.
