Renfrew voters got their chance to meet the people on their ballots on Tuesday evening at an All Candidates Night.
Adam Noack moderated the event at the Rec Centre, and notes the auditorium was nearly full as candidates for Mayor and Council made their case ahead of the October 24th vote.
They were joined by the acclaimed Reeve Peter Emon and Trustee for the Public School Board Susan Humphries to discuss major issues on the minds of residents.
Noack tells myFM that there were common themes among candidate platforms, including growth and the towns budget, accountability for council, affordable housing, taxes, as well as roads and infrastructure.
Noack was also pleased to see both voters and candidates attend the evening, believing that the future of the town is in good hands with the number of people who have put their name forward.
An important aspect for the night was the pace. Noack notes that the candidates were on a strict time limit to get present their opening statement and answer questions throughout the night, and that the task for them was to get their message across in an efficient manner.
The entire event was recorded with the intention of going up on the Town of Renfrew’s website and on youtube.
