There’s a grand opening this weekend for a new Indigenous Hub in the Pembroke Mall.
Joanne Haskin, the President of the Circle of Turtle Lodge, says they will have a grand opening event on Saturday, September 17th from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
Haskin says a community needs analysis showed there was a need for a safe place to gather to practice culture, language and tradition in Pembroke.
Haskin says they were able to open the new Indigenous Hub thanks to a generation donation from Strathallen Corporation, owners of the Pembroke Mall.
The opening ceremonies on Saturday will feature traditional drumming, signing, smudging with displays, door prizes and draws available as well.
The Indigenous Hub at the Pembroke Mall will be open from Monday to Friday between the hours of 10:00am and 7:00pm and located near the entrance by Planet Fitness.
