Renfrew Town Council held a special meeting recently to promote a few town staff ahead of the fall municipal election.
Town Planner Eric Withers, now the Director of Planning and Development, is excited for an upcoming period of growth for the town.
After a year and a half as Renfrew’s Acting Treasurer during the pandemic, Erin Broome was appointed to the full role at the meeting. Mayor Don Eady congratulated Broome as the motion was voted on.
Broome replaces Arthur Smith, who briefly served in the role after being hired earlier this year.
At the same, Victoria Charbonneau was tabbed to replace long-standing Kim Bulmer as Town Clerk with Carolynn Errett moving into Charbonneau’s previous role of Deputy Clerk.
Reeve Peter Emon took a moment at the meeting to show his excitement for the new crop of hires within Town Staff.
Making these hires well ahead of the October 24th vote was necessary, as the number of councilors not returning to office in the transition put recently passed “Lame Duck” protocols into play.
