An institution in Renfrew’s dining scene will pack it in by the end of next month.
After sixteen years of serving the community, Albert and Sandy of Sandy’s Deli on O’Brien Road have announced that they are retiring.
Albert Theriault tells myFM that health and age played into the decision, and that the couple are currently looking for a new owner to take over. If they can’t find a buyer, they’re set to close up shop at the end of September.
There are plenty of fond memories from the last sixteen years, including when filming for the upcoming retro-themed film “Painted Sharks” used their location. Albert expects the movie to hit streaming services in the fall.
It’s not all bittersweet news at Sandy’s Deli, as the couple also plan to get married soon and use retired life to travel and work on hobbies.
