Algonquin College in Pembroke is bringing students back for a full on-campus experience for the first time since the pandemic.
Manager of Student and Community Affairs Jamie Bramburger says they did have some in-person class events for students over the past few years, but nothing like before COVID-19 restrictions shut down a major portion of in-house learning.
Bramburger says that the college is still taking applications for courses, although some have already hit waitlist levels of interest.
While there are some courses that have filled up, there is a wide variety of programs with seats available. Bramburger tells myFM that one of those with open spots is the Personal Support Worker course, which comes with an automatic $2000 scholarship from Miramichi Lodge.
Bramburger adds that the pandemic changed how people consider taking courses, and it’s the college’s job to show the benefits of being within a campus community.
While this year’s enrollment numbers have been good, Bramburger says the pandemic has given post-secondary students more options to learn than ever before.
