If at first you don’t succeed…
Renfrew Town Council used their Tuesday, August 9th meeting to approve a $2.49 million bid from B.R. Fulton Construction to tear out and replace the roads along Haig Avenue, Joffre Avenue, and Dufferin Street.
Director of Development and Works Mike Asselin told Council that the project will get started next year.
The project only got one bid in it’s first pass earlier this year, but it came in at nearly double what the town was willing to pay.
Asselin said he was happy to keep the entire project together, rather than splitting it up by road.
The project calls for what is essentially a total makeover for the three roads near Lisgar Avenue and Ma-Te-Way Park.
The winning bid was not a perfect fit for what the town was expecting to pay, as it came in around $421,000 dollars over their original budget for the project.
However, because the work is now slated for 2023, Town Council will be able to find the extra money during next year’s budget talks.
