A need for less speed along the Hunter Gate neighbourhood has sparked a pilot project along Otteridge Drive.
Renfrew Town Council heard from Dave Hurley, who lives on Otteridge Drive, at their meeting on Tuesday, August 9th. He explained to council that the unposted speed limit on that road, which connects to Hall Avenue and Froats Street, presents a safety concern for it’s residents.
Hurley, who a provided a list of hundred signatures from residents living in the Hunter Gate neighbourhood who wanted something to be done about the pace of traffic, went on to say that Otteridge has been miscast as a through street.
Hurley reminded council that this wasn’t the first time the issue of the unposted speed limit has been brought up, saying that it’s been a concern for people living in the neighbourhood for “not months, but years.”
Council approved the test of a posted 35 km/h speed limit along Otteridge Drive starting September 1st.
