
Ontario is bringing high-speed internet access to up to 266,000 unserved and underserved homes and businesses, thanks to deals with eight telecom providers announced Thursday (August 4th).
The providers were selected through a two-stage competitive process and are part of Ontario’s historic investment of nearly $4 billion to bring access to reliable high-speed internet across the province by the end of 2025.
Bell Canada’s 483.8 million dollar contract with bring high-speed to about 83 thousand residences and businesses, including locations in Admaston-Bromley, Bonnechere Valley, Greater Madawaska, Horton, Madawaska Valley, McNab/Braeside, North Algona Wilberforce, and Renfrew.
Cogeco’s contract is valued at 74.3 million dollars and will reach almost 14 thousand clients in Admaston/Bromley, Laurentian Valley, North Algona Wilberforce, Pembroke, Petawawa, and Whitewater Region.
Rogers Communications share is 171 million dollars and over 89 thousand potential customers will be reached in Admaston/Bromley, Arnprior, Bonnechere Valley, Horton, Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards, Laurentian Valley, Madawaska Valley, Mcnab/Braeside, North Algona Wilberforce, Renfrew and Whitewater Region.
Others of the providers are Xplornet, North Frontenac Telephone, Eh!tel Networks, Community Network Partners and Bragg Communications.
