Construction on the Ma-Te-Way Centre’s expansion continued as Renfrew celebrated the opening of it’s new tennis and pickleball courts and splash pad just a few metres away on Wednesday, August 3rd.
Parks and Recreation Director Kevin Hill tells myFM that the work continues at a steady pace after some challenges earlier in the year which pushed their original plans for a New Year’s opening back to the Spring.
Director Hill adds that all the contractors are now on site and contributing to the final product, which will include: a second rink, facilities for indoor sports and activities, and the Bonnechere First Nation Cultural Centre.
The ongoing construction will not hamper use of the current MAC, as the building will still be fully operational through the project. Hill says you can expect ice in the arena in the upcoming days.
While you’re welcome to enjoy the arena and the nearby splashpad and courts, Hill asks the community to keep clear of the construction zone while crews work. You can get a great view of the building in progress from the second floor windows near the arena’s rear stairwell
