Local Basketball Coach Gerry Benoit has done it again. Benoit leads the U16 Men’s Basketball team to the gold medal at the Ontario Indigenous Games at Ottawa University over the weekend. The team was made up of players across Ontario, practiced here in the Ottawa Valley, and went undefeated in the tournament. Benoit says the experience was very special.
Gerry will also be coaching basketball with the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board this year and looks forward to growing the game even further.
One of the players was Skye Sakabow from Petawawa who says it was an experience he’ll never forget.
The Head Coach also says he encouraged hard work and staying humble during practice and throughout the tournament.
