Renfrew Town Council is taking advantage of Green Stream funding from multiple levels of Government.
Council moved ahead with their plans to tear out and replace watermains on Argyle and Lochiel streets, plus portions of Opeongo Road and Hall Avenue starting next year.
The $5 million project, which includes repaving the torn up parts of the roads afterwards, will only cost the town a little over $1.3 million, with the federal and provincial governments footing the rest of the bill.
Director of Works and Development, Mike Asselin notes that the town also has the additional funds needed to complete the paving work on the impacted streets to match the new surface from the project.
Green Stream funding is a joint-venture from the provincial and federal governments that supplies cash for municipal projects that help improve the quality of water infrastructure in their communities.
