The Township of Bonnechere Valley is reducing water pressure to the splash pad in Eganville to preserve drinking water for local residents.
This comes as the the warm weather has resulted in more visits to the splash pad and is leading to decrease water reserves.
Township staff say they can’t keep up with demand on Saturdays and Sundays and are are using as much water as if they were fighting a structure fire for two to three hours.
Right now, water pressure will be reduced, but the Township says if needed they will be turning off the splash pad daily between 3:00pm and 5:00pm to allow the water system to recover from the high demand.
The matter was discussed as part of the July 12th council meeting.
Council says the splash pad is on a timer system and talked about the importance of preserving the drinking water for local residents.
The splash pad at Legion Field in Eganville is open from 10:00am to 9:00pm.
