Renfrew’s kicking in for a new vehicle that’s good on ice…
That’s Parks and Recreation Director Kevin Hill at the Tuesday, July 12th Town Council meeting. It was there where approved the trade in of their 2014 OLYMPIA Ice Resurfacer, used for the MAC arena’s rink, for a new model.
Director Hill spoke to the savings the town is getting on the trade in at their meeting last week.
Most ice resurfacers have an life span of about 8 years or 5000 hours, according to Hill. The trade in value for their 2014 model nearing the end of that span is around $23,000, much more than the 1998 model that the town also owns.
After trade-in and dipping into reserve funds the town saves up for replacement equipment, the town is on the hook for just over $59,000 for the new ice resurfacer.
The older resurfacer will continue it’s use on the town’s skating oval.
