A pair are facing drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop in Laurentian Valley. According to the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP, officers pulled a vehicle over on Pembroke Street East near Robinson Lane at around 2pm on Sunday. After a short investigation, 64-year-old Desmond Warren of Ottawa has since been charged with trafficking cocaine, meth, property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts of driving while under suspension and driving with open liquor. A quantity of cash and cell phones were also seized by police. 65-year-old Stephen Stalkie of Laurentian Valley is also facing the following charges:
· Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamines
· Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
· Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
· Having liquor in open container in an unauthorized place
The vehicle was seized and impounded for 45 days. Both were released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on September 13, 2022.
