UPDATE: Tornado Watch ended
Environment Canada has issued a tornado watch across Renfrew County and the City of Pembroke.
Meteorologists say conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms which may produce tornadoes.
Strong winds, large hail and heavy rain are also possible.
Tornado watch in effect for:
- Barry’s Bay – Killaloe
- Petawawa – Pembroke – Cobden
- Renfrew – Arnprior – Calabogie
- Fort William
- Shawville
- Rapides-des-Joachims
- Ottawa-Kanata
Hazards:
- A tornado or two possible
- Wind gusts of 90 to 110 km/h
- Nickel to ping pong ball size hail
This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
