Kate Windle
With the municipal election on it’s way this October, we can now confirm one challenger to incumbent Renfrew Mayor Don Eady.
Kate Windle, owner of Grandma Kate’s Barbershop on Stewart Street and a Town Councilor during three separate terms over the past two decades, has thrown her hat into the ring.
She says that working with the business community to fill vacant storefronts would be a top priority.
Windle tells myFM that she would also work to attract new investors to build affordable housing for seniors, young families, and the working poor. She points to similar projects in Eganville and Arnprior as examples.
Windle adds that while she thinks highly of town staff in position to guide economic development for Renfrew, she wants to rethink how the town handles it’s development budget.
Windle also wants to change how the town tenders projects for bids from developers and construction companies.
The deadline to file a nomination for Mayor or a Town Council seat is August 19th. The election is on October 24th.
