The Renfrew OPP has laid charges in a school threats incident this week at Renfrew Collegiate Institute (RCI).
The OPP says around 10:50am on Monday, June 6th, 2022, school staff contacted the OPP to let them know of a threat against the school.
Pictures circulating online showed the concerning graffiti read “shoot up June 7th”.
The OPP says the threatening messages were found in various locations around the school.
Due to the nature of the threats that were reported, police attended RCI and RCIS on June 7th.
Following a police investigation two teenagers have been charged.
Police say a 15-year old is facing charges of mischief and uttering threats and a 14-year-old has been charged with mischief, uttering threats, assaulting a peace officer and obstructing a peace officer.
Both were released with upcoming court dates in Renfrew.
Police are withholding the identity of the accused as it’s protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
