Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke Member of Parliament Cheryl Gallant is back from an overseas trip to the capital of Lithuania.
The MP served as a delegate to the Spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly for 2022.
She was pleased to convey a message from Ukraine to our soldiers stationed at Garrison Petawawa who have served as trainers for members of the Ukrainian military.
“Since Putin’s attack on Ukraine, Canadian Armed Forces members have said they wished they could be doing more to support the brave people of Ukraine,” said Gallant.
In dialogue with a Ukrainian MP representing the Verkhovna Rada who was on leave from the war zone to attend the NATO meeting, Yehor Cherniev conveyed this greeting, “Dear Canadian Trainers, every success we have is from what you taught us. We are still standing strong, defending our land because of you. Every win we have is your win. You are always with us.”
The 2022 spring session of NATO’s parliamentary assembly had originally been slated to be held in Kiev, but after Russia’s February 24th invasion it was moved to safer ground.
