Having fun and learning skills and sportsmanship is the creed for the STARS Basketball Camp happening at Renfrew Collegiate Institute in July.
Camp Coach Vicki Wilson says the hope for the week long camp is to instill a love of the game and teach the kids to get creative in their play.
Wilson has run camps in the area for the last twenty years alongside her brother, RCI Physical Education Department Head Jason Wilson. She says the week long camp will split up into two age groups. Kids 8-to-10 will play daily from 8:30am to 11:30am, with kids 11-to-14 getting their court time in from 12pm-3pm.
The split will provide a better focus on skill development for each group.
To help foster a feel for the game, skills will be taught dynamically with more live game situations than stationary drills.
Vicki Wilson is also your contract to register and learn more about the upcoming camps, call her at 613-622-1200 or email vicki.wilson@sympatico.ca.
The camp runs daily from July 18th through July 22nd.
