Be wary of offers and ads that seem too good to be true.
That’s the advice of the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, which one anonymous myFM listener won’t soon forget.
The tipster, who didn’t leave their name, tells myFM of an official looking email offering products at only the cost of shipping.
The email looked similar to official communications from Costco or other big box stores, offering the products as a reward for completing a survey.
As they got further into the process, they say they began to get wary and checked the terms of the offer.
The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre says to watch for deceptive ads, and never give out personal or credit information unless you’ve done the research first. Always check who’s sending you emails by the address that shows up in the address bar and trust your instincts if the sender seems fishy.
