Imagine how nervous you’d be if you’re trying to drive your pregnant partner to Pembroke Regional Hospital to give birth- but it happens by the side of the road.
That’s what happened to Tony Periard, Julia- and their new baby River early this (Friday) morning.
While you can still detect the tremor in his voice, Tony picks up the tale.
Periard pulled off the highway and phoned for help.
Paramedics arrived to take mom and precious package to PRH, where all three are doing well.
Tony doesn’t think he’ll pursue midwifery as a career, but says Julia is giving him high marks for his assistance.
And there’s any irony with new baby’s pre-chosen name.
Congratulations Julia and Tony- and welcome, River- born this morning at Greenwood Road and Highway 17.
