No Hot Pets.
That’s the message from local police as warmer weather arrives in the region.
The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment has already started to receive calls from concerned citizens after pets were left unattended in vehicles.
The OPP says even on mild days or when parked in the shade or with a window left slightly open, temperatures can quickly become deadly.
Environment Canada is calling for daytime temperatures to get up to 30 degrees on Thursday and Friday.
You can report animal welfare concerns 24/7 by calling 1-833-9ANIMAL (1-833-926-4625) or the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
