Arnprior has had an issue with stray cats for quite some time.
Mayor Walter Stack explains the current rules for canines and felines in captivity.
As you might imagine, the felines are not inclined to comply.
The numbers of stray cats are overwhelming both the Town’s By-law officer, and the Humane Society.
The Mayor says a new group wanting to assist with the Town’s Stray Cat problem is a County-wide or Valley-wide organization operating without the restrictions under which the Humane Society functions.
Council discussed the matter at the April 25th Municipal meeting, and authorized Arnprior Stray Cat Division Rescue free use of the Nick Smith Centre on May 14th for a Garage Sale, with all proceeds raised going to their rescue efforts.
