Public Security for the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais had anything BUT a relaxing Easter Weekend.
Early Good Friday morning (1:35AM) police received a report that a speeding vehicle had crashed into a tree on route 718 near Angge-Gardien.
Officers ascertained that the 32 year-old male driver from Gatineau was driving while impaired, as tests at the station indicated his blood alcohol was twice the legal limit.
His licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a month.
Compared with last year, intoxicated offences stand at 25, versus the 9 reported a year ago.
Speeding was the big preoccupation, however; of 13 infractions, 8 were for excessive speed on Easter Monday in the Pontiac alone.
