After a career that spanned almost 24-years with the Pembroke Observer and News, Tina Peplinskie has taken on a new role as the Media Relations and Social Media Coordinator for the County of Renfrew. Peplinskie tells myFM she did her college placement with the newspaper in Pembroke and eventually became a full-time reporter.
Peplinskie remembers early in her career covering the high profile murder trail of Cherrylle Dell, who was found guilty of poisoning her husband with anti-freeze.
As a journalist in the Pembroke area with a career that spanned almost two and a half decades, she’s covered a wide range of news stories including local events, school board meetings, municipal council, sports and everything in between. Peplinskie talked about how exciting it was to cover the Pembroke Lumber Kings winning a national championship as both a reporter and a fan.
She says overall everyone has been supportive of her taking on the new position including staff at the County of Renfrew and her former co-workers at the Pembroke Observer and News.
Chief Administrative Officer for the County of Renfrew, Paul Moreau, says they are excited to welcome Tina into the new position and adds she is well respected member of the local community who has played an important role informing the public about municipal events and programs.
A job posting to fill the multimedia journalist position with the Pembroke Observer and News has been posted online.
