More jobs are coming to Arnprior, according to Walter Stack.
The Mayor used the occasion of Monday’s Town Council meeting to announce the sale of the Pillar Five facility to Anjac, a French cosmetics firm with sales of over 650 million euros annually.
Long-time residents will remember that Pillar 5 is located in the former Pfizer plant which began operations in Arnprior in the 1950s and morphed to Pillar 5 more than a decade ago.
Mayor Stack says the Pillar 5 site doesn’t meet the planned capacities for the cosmetics firm.
The Mayor says Anjac is a conglomerate with fourteen research and development labs and markets 22 product lines manufacturing 35 million units a month- but how many local jobs will this mean?
Stack says that while sixty percent of the Town’s workforce commutes to the Nation’s capital, they may be persuaded to save their gas money as more and more local opportunities arise.
