The Pembroke Public Library is getting ready to host the 7th annual Multicultural Festival. Library CEO Karthi Rajamani tells myFM in 2020 the Multicultural Festival was cancelled due to COVID-19 and last year the library did a virtual event, which was a huge success.
Rajamani says the library is excited to host the event in-person again at the Pembroke Amphitheater and Waterfront Park on August 20th, 2022.
Rajamani says the Multicultural Festival has grown significantly since it first started. The event will be free to attend with live performances, local musicians, food trucks and booths, a bouncy castle, henna tattoos, living statues, dance workshops, kite racing, local vendors and drummers.
Local businesses are encouraged to reach out to the library if they are interested in making a specialty dish that can be served at the Multicultural Festival or can help in any way. Businesses and restaurants can contact Anna Ritza (aritza@pembrokelibrary.ca or call 613-732-8844). Rajamani says people can contact her directly with questions regarding programming.
The chair of the library board and Laurentian Valley councillor Keith Watt says it’s a great event that supports inclusion and diversity in the community.
You can watch the 2021 virtual edition of the Multicultural Festival online.
More details regarding the upcoming Multicultural Festival and other fun events planned by the Pembroke Public Library will be released as they become available.
Until May 31st, 2022, Marigold restaurant in Pembroke is hosting a fundraiser for the Pembroke Public Library where $1 from each order over $20 goes towards the library’s local history cabinet project.
