When you think of it, asking the local OPP detachment its opinion on increasing the speed limit on the 417 between Arnprior and Kanata to 110 km/h is a bit of a non-starter.

Carruthers says the police role is to enforce existing speed limits, whatever those may be set at.
The Renfrew Detachment media officer says any questions on the new speed limits would better be answered by the Ministry of Transportation.
The 10 km/h increase in the speed limit on the 417 is effective April 22nd.
