The Renfrew Wolves had their eight-game winning streak come to an end last night, falling 3-2 in a shootout to their Highway 17 rivals, Pembroke Lumber Kings. After a scoreless first period, the Kings didn’t waste any time in the second, however, as Jack Stockfish got the home team on the board just 13 seconds into the period when he ripped a shot into the top corner. Alex Rossides got the Wolves on the board less than a minute later. Carter Vollett scored his 13th of the year with six minutes to go in the second to put Pembroke up 2-1. With 8:17 to go in regulation, Connor Garcia pulled the Wolves even. The Kings found themselves in penalty trouble late in the game and found themselves down a player for the majority of the overtime period. After overtime solved nothing, the two teams went to a shootout where Joe Jordan scored the winner, putting the puck past a sprawling Will Craig in the Renfrew net. The Wolves get a few days off before welcoming the Kemptville 73’s the MAC on Wednesday night. Game time is 7:30.
