Thirty-two years service in the public eye, and teaching over half the town how to swim is quite the accomplishment for retiring Recreation Programmer Rick Gwalchmai, who was feted by Arnprior Council at the municipal meeting March 14th.
Mayor Walter Stack and Administration presented Rick with his retirement gift earlier in the day, and it was Stack who initiated remarks.
The Mayor says Gwalchmai was a defacto public relations ambassador, among other duties.
When all was said and done, it was Gwalchmai’s turn to speak, and his thank-you list began with Glenn Arthurs, whom he met as a 22 year-old straight out of school, ending with his family- and finally, some words of encouragement for Nick Smith Centre patrons.
