70km/h over-limit is some speeding- but imagine the accompanying consequences. CityNews tells the tale of a Gatineau man spotted on route 148 in Luskville doing 160 in a 90 zone just before 6AM last Thursday.
Despite flashing lights and police sirens, the driver refused to stop, accelerating further towards the west.
The SQ in Campbell’s Bay were notified, and located the driver and vehicle in Bristol. The 22-year-old from Gatineau was arrested for dangerous driving and flight under the Criminal Code. He will also receive several tickets for a total of $6,390 and a loss of 41 demerit points. The car, which was seized, did not belong to him. His license was also suspended as a result. He will appear in court at a later date.
