The issue of compensation for the Town of Arnprior’s elected officials returns to the table for consideration at the February 28th municipal meeting.
Mayor Walter Stack had indicated February 14th that he supports what is being recommended.
The independent Ad Hoc Committee recommended the Mayor’s pay rise to a range between 59 and 65 thousand dollars a year, and be considered a full-time job.
While the process clears councillors of any potential accusation they’ve decided to vote themselves a raise, there is one area where the independent process has a potential loophole.
An alternative suggestion raised at the last meeting was to tie the Mayor’s salary to the equivalent paid to the Mayor of Carleton Place.
