
The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is reporting over 91% of local residents over the age of 12 have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
At the end of January (2022), the RCDHU reported over 214,000 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the region.
The health unit says 91.3% of local residents over the age of 12 have one shot with 88.7% having received two or more doses.
The RCDHU is reminding residents that vaccination clinics in the region do accept walk-in appointments.
Residents can book an appointment in Pembroke or Deep River through the Provincial COVID-19 vaccination portal or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1-833-943-3900.
Those 18 and older can receive their third dose this week, if they received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on or before November 07, 2021.
The RCDHU says all residents over the age of five (including those who are, or plan to become pregnant) should receive their COVID-19 vaccine.
The health unit says the best way to protect yourself and those around you from serious illness like COVID-19 and variants of concern is to get vaccinated.
The RCDHU notes nearly 4,000 local children between the ages of five and eleven have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
