The Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre (RC VTAC) continues to address health concerns of local residents.
Warden Debbie Robinson provided an update as a part of the county council this morning (January 26th, 2022).
Robinson says since VTAC launched, physicians have completed 43,373 assessments, community paramedics have completed 5,307 home checks, VTAC is averaging 1,648 calls per week with 72% of calls from patients unattached to a family physician.
Since VTAC launched, the Warden says ER visits across Renfrew County are down 34.8%, hospitalizations are down 12.3% and health care costs have increased by 0.9% compared to neighbouring counties with increases of 2.5% and 4%.
Robinson says there’s no good reason why they are not getting sustainable funding for the Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre (VTAC).
Robinson says she’s working with MPP John Yakabuski to get RC VTAC back in front of Health Minister Christine Elliott to obtain annual funding.
The Warden for the County of Renfrew says funding for VTAC is only in place until March 31st, 2022.
