The Pembroke Lumber Kings and Renfrew Wolves will be off the ice for a couple of weeks due to new restrictions in Ontario to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
The Central Canadian Hockey League (CCHL), which oversees both Junior A hockey teams, says they plan to return to a full slate of games on January 28th, 2022.
On Tuesday night (January 4th, 2022), the Renfrew Wolves and Carleton Place Canadians were able to play one final game before the season was put on pause.
The CCHL says they plan to reach the 55-game regular season with a full playoff schedule to follow.
The league says this will give players a complete season despite this unplanned interruption of play.
The CCHL says while they are disappointed in the abrupt change in a matter of a few days, the league will continue to lead in terms of following all public health guidelines from the Province of Ontario to ensure the safest environment for everyone involved.
The Renfrew Wolves will take on the @CPCANADIANS tonight at 730pm in Renfrew as scheduled prior to tomorrow’s lock down. Doors open at 7pm only 50% capacity (650) https://t.co/csKrnD1nas food or drinks permitted in the arena.Let’s show these boys on both teams the support.
