CHEO is postponing non-urgent surgeries, appointments and procedures.
The announcement was reported Friday by CityNews
The hospital will use the first two weeks of January to contacting impacted families.
CHEO says it has been forced to postpone some scheduled appointments to meet urgent and emergency care needs because Omicron cases continue to spread.
The move conforms with a request by the Ontario government to halt scheduled non-urgent surgical and procedural activity.
Because hospital employees are being exposed to the virus beyond CHEO’s walls, the hospital says it must do everything it can to protect its ability to provide care.
Initially, postponements are only for the first two weeks of January, but will perhaps be extended further out if necessary.
