Ontario’s long-term care minister says his province will put a pause on general visitors from entering long-term care homes and won’t allow residents to leave for social reasons starting Thursday.Ontario reported over 8,800 new COVID infections Tuesday and outbreaks in 41 long-term care homes.Rod Phillips says the high transmissibility of the Omicron variant is forcing Ontario to exempt only two designated caregivers per resident from the strict no-visiting rule.
Palliative visits will still be allowed.
