The discussion on permitting private road development in Arnprior took a sharp turn at the Town Council meeting of December 13th.
Initially a consultant had recommended the Town’s Official Plan be amended to allow private roads as a “common element condominium” in new subdivisions where a developer expresses interest in proceeding with such.
Mayor Walter Stack says that at the ZOOM session there were objections expressed by two developer-representatives, Cody Campanale- and Erin O’Connor, representing the Regional Group.
Campanale thinks the condominium roads approach is far more costly than the “joint use and maintenance” policy it has employed in Ottawa subdivisions his firm has put up.
The Mayor says that any approach that contributes to lowering costs for potential first-time home buyers is beneficial.
