Development charges are going up in the Town of Renfrew.
Council approved the increase at their municipal meeting Tuesday night (December 14th, 2021).
In the next 4-years there will be a $5,500 increase in development charges for a single detached home in Renfrew.
The move will see Renfrew have some of the highest development charges in the Ottawa Valley and across Eastern Ontario.
For a single detached dwelling in Pembroke development charges total $3,779, Petawawa has proposed to increase development charges to $7,082 in 2022 and development charges in Arnprior are $15,601.
The proposed changes in Renfrew would see residential development charges (for a single detached dwelling) go up from $9,500 to $10,600 on July 1st, 2022.
Development charges would increase every year on January 1st until 2026.
In 2023 the fees will go up to $11,700, in 2024 development charges in Renfrew will total $12,800, in 2025 it will increase to $13,900 and in 2026 go to $15,000.
