Heavy rain is expected Saturday (December 11th, 2021) with freezing rain in the morning.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break and utility outages may occur.
Rain will be heavy at times with 20 to 40 mm expected.
The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall. Melting snow will also contribute to runoff.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
Strong winds gusts between 70 and 80 km/h are also expected Saturday afternoon or evening into the overnight hours.
Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.
