The Renfrew County and District Health Unit is sharing good news regarding the COVID-19 Exposure during recent Field Exercises at Garrison Petawawa.
All additional cases have been reported to be household contacts of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members who were already in self-isolation as per the RCDHU’s direction.
The Health Unit continues to monitor the outbreak to ensure that all necessary measures are in place.
Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Cushman says, “This situation had the potential to lead to a serious outbreak in our community, but thanks to timely case and contact management…and the leadership at Garrison Petawawa… we were able to contain the outbreak.”
Cushman says being fully vaccinated is no excuse to slack off on following public health measure- continue to mask up, practise social distancing, proper hygene and complete the COVID-19 self-assessment tool daily before going to work, school, or daycare.
