The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) says in the first three days of having COVID-19 vaccine appointments open for those in the 5 to 11 age group, over 1,000 appointments were booked.
RCDHU Manager of Health Communities Andrew Keck says the first vaccination clinic for youth in Pembroke will take place Friday, November 26th, 2021.
The health unit plans to add more appointments to their booking site next week for the month of December.
In addition to going through one of the RCDHU vaccine clinics, there are 14 local pharmacies that have vaccine and will be vaccinating 5 to 11 year olds to give parents more options.
The RCDHU says 159,760 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the region with 89.4% of those over the age of 12 having their first shot and 86.4% with two or three doses.
