Apparently catfishing is the least of your worries if you’re online dating.
Killaloe OPP are warning people about circulating “romance scams”.
Police say fraudsters using stolen photos will contact victims on dating sites and often claim they work overseas, are in the military or wealthy business people.
They then profess their love and lure them into giving them money when they’re “in trouble”, promising to pay their victims back.
Police say to be suspicious of anyone professing their love for you quickly, or who say they’re wealthy but need to borrow money, and never send intimate photos that can be used for blackmail.
