Good News announcements are often accompanied by a lot of roll-up-your-sleeves effort before they come to fruition.
McNab-Braeside Mayor Tom Peckett says there’s been a lot of behind-the-scenes activity following the revelation that six Germany-based agricultural manufacturing and service firms had committed to relocating or expanding into his township, with the promise of more than five hundred jobs.
The Mayor says investors from Germany have made in-person visits on both October 8th and October 18th for site tours and a planning and regulatory workshop with a range of officials.
There’s an old saw about the ripple effect from a butterfly flapping its wings- but will a local LDD moth infestation impact the wood supply the new industries will require?
Peckett believes between two and three hundred additional jobs will be created or sustained in fields relating to the supply chain and services needed to keep the new industries in operation.
The McNab-Braeside Mayor says additional employment opportunities will occur by upgrading municipal infrastructure.
As to potential defoliation? The municipality is working with the Rotary Club of Arnprior to plant 40 hectares of trees over the next 3-5 year within Township boundaries.
