The Township of Laurentian Valley is celebrating a successful first year for the community gardens.
The Township of Laurentian Valley secured funding to help build the two gardens located at the Shady Nook Recreation Centre and Alice and Fraser Recreation Centre.
A total of 34 garden plots are available for members of the community.
Residents in Laurentian Valley are growing their own food and helping support those in need as fees for the garden plots support the local food bank.
In the first year, the community garden’s in the Laurentian Valley managed to raise $395 for the St. Joseph’s Foodbank.
The Township looks forward to next year’s gardening season and hopes to continue to grow in membership.
