The Algonquin Trail continues be improved in the County of Renfrew.
Manager of Forestry and GIS Jason Davis says this summer they packed and added stone-dust to a 21-kilometer section of the trail between Renfrew and Cobden.
He adds it’s nice to see more people getting out, using the local trails and experiencing all that Renfrew County has to offer.
Davis says if the weather cooperates they will start work on a section of the Algonquin Trail between Cobden and Pembroke this fall with work continuing into 2022.
Pembroke council plans to make a decision in October regarding the use of motorized vehicles on the Algonquin Trail in the city.
Thanks to provincial and federal funding, the pile of aggregates in Chalk River will also be spread and packed along the local trail network next year.
