UPDATE: Beachburg road now open

A section of Beachburg Road is closed after a serious motorcycle collision.

Police are currently on scene and have closed the section of road in both directions between Zion Line and Sturgeon Mountain Road.

The OPP says the collision took place around 9:30am this morning (September 1st, 2021).

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a westbound motorcycle lost control.

Police say the driver, a 52 year-old male from North Bay and the passenger, a 37 year-old female from Nipissing First Nation, were transported to hospital by land ambulance with serious injuries.

Beachburg Road is expected to be closed until mid-afternoon and local detours are in place.

Officers remain on scene and the investigation is continuing with the assistance of OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) members.
