At the virtual conference of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario last week, the Peter J. Marshall Innovation Award was presented to the Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre for its approach to fighting the pandemic locally.
The accolade was awarded at the gathering last Tuesday (August 17th)
The Association partners on the presentation with other civic bodies and professional associations as well as the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
County Councillor Dan Lynch Lynch says there had been mounting pressure on Queen’s Park to commit to sustaining RC-VTAC after the pandemic subsides, and the award may have hastened Ontario’s decision.
The Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre could play a key role in supporting local patients with no family physician going forward.
