The virtual applause is seismic throughout the region, as RC-VTAC has scored the Association of Municipalities of Ontario’s (AMO) Peter J. Marshall Innovation Award- a juried recognition of highest achievement.
The Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre was inaugurated scant two weeks after the pandemic was declared by the WHO in March of 2020.
The accolade itself was presented virtually at AMO’s annual conference.
The Association partners on the presentation with other civic bodies and professional associations as well as the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
By now everyone in the Valley is familiar with the local success story, which has completed over 27,000 COVID assessments far and wide, easing pandemic pressures on hospital ER’s, amongst its other services.
Brian Rosborough, AMO Executive Director is among those who hope that data carefully collected in the process might serve as a template for use in other Ontario communities.
Other award winners included The City of Kitchener for its Housing for All project; The City of Markham for its Single-Use Plastics Reduction Plan; and the Township of the Archipelago for its Tale of a Thousand Turtles project.
